Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES:

Under the supervision of an Investigative Specialist 3, you will oversee the activities of a team of Investigative Specialist 1’s engaged in a wide variety of investigations relating to the administration and enforcement of New York State Labor Law, present cases at conferences; testify at hearings; handle complex investigations; and interact with the public and regulated community.

Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

As this position requires travel, the appointee must have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State and have a motor vehicle or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Reassignment Qualifications:
Current Department of Labor employees only, with at least one year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service in an Investigative Specialist 2 (Labor Standards) if you have less than one year, you must be reachable on the current Investigative Specialist 2 (Labor Standards) eligible list for this location, if one exists.

52.7 Non-Competitive Promotion (NCP) Qualifications:
To be eligible for NCP, candidates must be in the Department of Labor promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service as an Investigative Specialist 1 (Labor Standards). If 3 or fewer qualified Department of Labor Investigative Specialist 1 (Labor Standards) apply to this vacancy, Civil Service may approve the permanent appointment of one of the qualified Investigative Specialist 1 (Labor Standards) without further examination.

Note: Non-competitive refers to not competing in an examination; the appointment will be competitive.

Provisional Qualifications:
Candidates must be in the Department of Labor promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service as an Investigative Specialist 1 (Labor Standards). The appointed candidate would have to take, pass and be reachable on the next holding of the examination to be appointed permanently.

Note: In accordance with Civil Service Law, provisional service immediately prior to a permanent appointment to this title is now credited towards the completion of probation upon permanent appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.

Additional Comments This position may require a fingerprint background check prior to appointment.

Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or out-stationed assignments.
