Duties Description Park Aide 6 is a full-time, seasonal position that assists the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) at Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park in maintaining Greenhouse Complex at the arboretum.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Assist with watering, planting, pruning, and repotting
• Open and close the greenhouses to the general public daily
• Oversee small crews of staff or volunteers on specific tasks
• Performing other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
No minimum qualifications per Civil Service.
Preferred qualifications:
Horticultural experience or academic training in horticulture is preferred but not required.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Work is required on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
• Must possess strong organizational and critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
• Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor, including medium-heavy lifting.
