Duties Description Duties for the Stores Clerk 2 (Motor Equipment) will include but not be limited to the following:

• ordering parts and supplies in accordance with contractual and open market purchasing regulations;
• assisting in monitoring adherence to purchasing practices, vendor performance, contract compliance, and quality assurance of products received;
• making payment with credit card and reconcile in SFS;
• using online parts catalog and parts books to obtain and cross reference part numbers; and
• recording purchases, issuing parts, documenting consumption of parts and assuring that all issued parts are properly charged.

Other duties include receiving and/or supervising the receipt and storage of parts and supplies; labeling parts, maintaining inventory levels; conducting physical inventories; following-up with vendors regarding delivery problems; and assisting in maintaining security and orderliness of parts storage areas.

Travel may be required for training and delivering parts in a van or box truck.

Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).*

To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS, or 55 b/c, candidates must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications for this position. The qualifications are:

Two years of experience either directly involved in ordering, issuing, and stocking a wide variety of auto, truck, agricultural, industrial, military, and/or construction equipment parts in a dealership, parts distribution center, or major parts store with computerized control of the parts operation or two years of experience as an automotive or heavy equipment mechanic shop supervisor, or superintendent, directly repairing or overseeing a broad range of repair work on automotive or heavy equipment, and/or trucks in a facility having a minimum of 50 repairs per week.

Candidates may also be qualified for permanent competitive appointment if reachable from the appropriate Civil Service eligible list or eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.

Additional Comments *This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.

At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in an NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
