The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Residential Program Managers have administrative and supervisory responsibility for the health, care, and safety of individuals diagnosed with mental illness residing in State Operated Community Residences (SOCR) and State Operated Residential Care Centers for Adults (SORCCA). Under the supervision of a higher level facility-based individual, you would oversee and manage the overall operation of the residence and rehabilitative program services provided by residence staff, ensuring delivery of culturally competent mental health services. Duties may include but are not limited to: ensuring necessary support services are provided to residents; ensuring adequate and appropriate staffing; planning, assigning, reviewing work of staff; evaluating performance; training staff; preparing and monitoring the residence budget; requisitioning supplies and equipment; ensuring reports and records on resident care are completed accurately and in a timely manner; ensuring compliance with standards and regulations; developing rules and procedures as necessary; responding to crisis situations and emergencies; investigating and reporting incidents involving residents or staff; maintaining linkages with appropriate psychiatric center staff; and developing positive relationships with community and service providers.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Open to New York State Employees:
Transfer Opportunity - have permanent status as a Residential Program Manager 1 and be eligible for lateral transfer OR be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law.
OR
Provisional appointment - Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service as a Residential Program Specialist, Grade 16.
Candidates appointed provisionally must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title, and their score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before they can be permanently appointed. Candidates who do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score may not be retained.
